The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, concern for needs, and of serving others.
Therefore, the first duty of the Deacon is sympathy and service.

Keep in touch with our members by sending cards, newspaper clippings, flowers or plants when a member of the immediate family is lost, and provide devotional materials for anyone who would like them.
College Student Ministry
Keep in touch with our students who are in college, sending occassional notes of encouragement and small care packages and/or gift cards as they prepare for finals.
Health and Wellness
Visit our members who are in the hospital and care facilities, and provide opportunities in the area of health issues.
TLC (Tender Loving Care)
Provide meals for families after funerals or during times of special need (following a hospital stay, etc.).
Church and Community
Provide opportunities for those in need to receive financial assistance to address short-term emergency needs.
Addressing minor home repair issues for those in need.
Communion for shut-ins
Each month after the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated during our Sunday worship services, the elements are taken and served to our shut-ins so they remain connected to the Body of Christ through communion.
Provide transportation to appointments or to church events as needed.
Pray for and welcome each person who is baptized into the Body of Christ at Brookdale Church, and provide them with a monogrammed towel as a keepsake.
Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
